To tie a scarf around your neck elegantly, all you need is one knot and the right size. MeSilk is our Como silk scarf with a slim, elongated shape, what the fashion world calls a twilly: it isn’t folded, it’s knotted just as it is. It comes in two sizes: Small sits close to the neck, a precise detail that finishes the look; Large, being longer, allows the more dramatic knots, from the tie to the bow. Here are five ways, step by step.

Small or Large: which MeSilk for the neck

The front knot

With an open blazer or an unbuttoned shirt, it’s the touch that makes even the simplest look feel polished.

Place the centre of the MeSilk Small at the back of your neck and bring both ends to the front.
Tie a soft double knot, keeping the MeSilk close to the neck without tightening it.
Centre the knot at the front of the neck and let the two points fall softly.

The knot at the nape

With your hair up, the detail moves to the back: a clean line at the front, the knot and the silk points behind.

Place the centre of the MeSilk Small at the front of your neck and bring both ends round to the nape.
Cross the ends and close them with a soft double knot.
Centre the knot at the nape and let the two points fall down your back.

The tie

A printed silk tie turns a white shirt into an office look with character.

Pass the MeSilk Large behind your neck, under the shirt collar, with one end longer than the other.
Wrap the long end around the short one, bring it up through the loop at the neck and down through the knot at the front.
Tighten the knot without flattening it and fold the collar back down.

The bow

Worn to one side, the bow takes centre stage. Perfect with necklines that leave the shoulders bare.

Place the centre of the MeSilk Large at the back of your neck and bring both ends to the front.
Tie a soft knot slightly to one side, keeping both ends the same length.
Form the bow and gently open the two loops, leaving the points free.

The double wrap

Two turns around the neck and a soft knot at the neckline: MeSilk Large is worn like a small neckerchief, its points falling free over the shirt.

Place the middle of the MeSilk Large at the front of your neck, with both ends the same length.
Bring both ends round to the nape, cross them and bring them back to the front, one on each side.
Cross the two ends at the front and pass one point under the other without tightening: the knot should stay soft and sit slightly away from the neck.
Centre the knot and smooth the two points downwards, letting them fall naturally over the shirt.

How do you tie a scarf around your neck elegantly?

With MeSilk, a single knot is all it takes: a close-fitting front knot with the Small size, or a tie or a bow with the Large. The knot should stay soft, never tight.

Small or large twilly for the neck?

The Small for a close-fitting, discreet detail, like the front knot or the nape knot. The Large for knots that show more, like the tie, the bow and the double wrap; it’s also the most versatile size, as it can be worn at the waist, on a bag and in your hair too.
